Rabbits Daily Diet Breakdown
90% Hay (Timothy or Alfalfa Canowindra)
The main food source should always be fresh, clean hay. It supports healthy digestion and keeps their teeth naturally trimmed.Use Alfalfa for younger or underweight rabbits (rich in calcium)
Timothy hay is ideal for adult rabbits (low calcium, high fiber)
10% Rabbit Pellets (Chexter Rabbit Pellets)
Give a controlled portion in the morning only. Overfeeding pellets can lead to obesity and digestive issues.Use only high-quality pellets with no added sugar, nuts, or colored bits.
Serve in a clean, dry bowl to avoid contamination.
Water & Vitamins
- Fresh Water
Always provide clean, room-temperature water. Use a water bottle or heavy ceramic dish that won’t tip over.
- LCVit (Rabbit Multivitamins)
Administer LCVit once every 7 days — either mixed in drinking water or as per the instructions on the label. Vitamins support immunity, fur quality, and appetite.
Grooming and General Maintenance
Long-haired rabbits (like Lionheads or Angoras):
Groom once a week to prevent fur matting and hairballs.
- Use a soft-bristle pet brush and trim nails as needed.
Short-haired breeds:
- Spot grooming every 2 weeks is enough.
- Keep their cage clean, dry, and away from direct sunlight or extreme cold.
❌ Never feed rabbits iceberg lettuce, onions, garlic, sweets, or dog/cat food.
❌ Don’t give too many fruits or vegetables all at once — they can cause bloating.
✅ Introduce new food slowly, especially if switching hay or pellet brands.
